Vista Ridge Pipeline

Second Segment of Vista Ridge Pipeline Completed

The Vista Ridge water transmission pipeline travels over 150 miles between San Antonio and Austin, Texas. American Pipeline Services finished grouting the interior joints of pipeline earlier this year and in March, we returned to begin painting appurtenances along the line.

The project required painting five 535 blow-off and air release vales. However, it was not just the huge number of vaults that would make this work difficult. The crew had to contend with flooded vaults, muddy fields, snakes, weeds that were taller than the company truck, and weather that brought thunderstorms and 105 degree days. Further, the job timeline required a high number of vaults be painted each day.

Right-of-ways were heavily overgrown making it difficult to find the vaults and get to them safely.

Piping ranged from 4-inch to 12-inch. Some vaults were 20 feet deep.

Our supervisors and painters worked away from home, battling these challenges for 83 days over the course of 4 months. All painting was wrapped up at the end of July, closing out  the second successful scope of work on the Vista Ridge Pipeline.
