MEET OUR LEADERSHIP TEAM

In 1978 after ownership interest in several other service-related businesses, Phil Davis saw a need for a company that specialized in the refurbishment of construction equipment.  With rented equipment, material suppliers who were willing to take a chance, and two employees, Colorado Blasting and Painting was established.  Operating on the principles of integrity, quality, keeping schedule commitments, and safety, the company quickly grew.

In 1984, Phil began to diversify and service new customers. There was a growing concern to shore up environment regulations and employee safety was now a measurable marker for the industry. Continuing to try and stay ahead of the curve, Phil focused on obtaining permits from the EPA, and establishing solid working relationships with organizations like OSHA and local agencies to ensure the company was best in class. 

The next several years brought even greater opportunities, and with some strategic acquisitions the company continued to grow. Leading the way into the new millennium Phil solidified himself as a leader in the industry. Respected by customers, competitors and employees, he left a great legacy and a solid foundation for the next generation. Phil now enjoys spending time on his motorcycle, with his 16 grandchildren and traveling with his wife of 50 years.


Steve returned to Colorado to work in the family business after graduating with a Business Management degree from Abilene Christian University.  Having watched his father, Phil Davis, the founder of Colorado Blasting and Painting, operate the business most of his childhood, Steve always knew it was what he was going to do. He spent the first 10 years in the day-to-day operations of the business, starting out in sales and estimating, then moving into the safety and project management. Through strategic acquisitions, the company grew, not only in staff, but in project size.  In order to keep up with the changes in the industry, Steve became a NACE Level 3 Coating Inspector, and was promoted to Vice President in 2002, then President in 2005. 

In 2010, Steve became an instructor for the NACE CIP program and remains active in the organization. Steve has continued to surround himself with a capable and sound executive staff and is responsible for strategic planning, financial stability, and company growth and employee development. 


Alfonso was a 20-plus year healthcare veteran before joining the Coblaco team in early 2015.  He has held executive and senior management titles including Vice President and Director positions with notable healthcare companies on both a national and local level.  As a result, he brings customer service and leadership skills, as well as financial acumen, to his responsibilities at Coblaco. Alfonso is NACE Level I certified.

He earned an undergraduate degree in Economics and Latin American Studies from the University of New Mexico, and received his Master of Business Administration graduate degree from the University of Phoenix in 2000.


Tedd began working with the Coblaco family of companies as an independent marketing and advertising consultant in 1997.  Over the next decade, the Coblaco family of companies experienced strong growth through innovations in new markets and specialized services.  In 2007, Tedd came on board full-time managing industrial coating operations and facilities in both California and Colorado.    Tedd developed expertise in leading numerous projects involving innovative coating technologies, unique and challenging construction methods, specialized QA/QC and logistical requirements for a number of valued customers.  In April of 2015, Tedd was appointed Vice President of Operations.  Tedd maintains offices at both the corporate headquarters in Aurora, CO as well as the Henderson, CO facility.  Tedd remains focused on strategic planning, leading smart growth process management, innovating technologies throughout the industrial coating industry, employee development strategies and establishing a clear direction for the future growth of the Coblaco family of companies.   He is also NACE CIP Level III Certified. 


Jason Becker is the Sales & Estimating Manager at Coblaco Services, Inc. His background in residential construction and as a small business owner proved a good fit when he joined Coblaco Services in 2005, starting out as a blaster working with crews. He was quickly promoted to a supervisor of field projects and eventually project management. In 2012, Jason was asked to assist in the estimating department and began quoting work. In 2015, he became Coblaco Services’ Sales & Estimating Manager.  Jason is NACE CIP Level 3 certified.

Jason attended both Metro State University and Colorado State University.


Greg Smith began as a Manager of Quality Control, Safety and Training for Coblaco in 2012.  In 2013 he relocated to the Midwest, where he gained professional experience in estimating, planning, scheduling and project management with a different coating company.  In 2015, Greg returned to Coblaco as Manager of Coating projects, bringing a new wealth of experience to the position.  Greg also has a varied working background in blasting and coating projects.

Greg holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Colorado in Business Administration.  He is also NACE CIP Certified (Levels 1, 2 &3) and carries several SSPC certifications including SSPC C3, SSPC C5 and Bridge Coating Inspector Levels 1 & 2.


Joey joined Coblaco Services in December of 2014 after a career of managing teams and processes in a variety of competitive industries, including manufacturing, for over 20 years.   Joey is a strategic leader who excels at creating solutions for clients, employees, business partners, and the company as a whole. Starting as the manager of Safety, Quality, and Training, Joey’s role expanded in June of 2015 as he accepted the position of Facility Production Manager. 

Joey attended Regis University and is NACE CIP Level 1 certified.  He continues to broaden his business management education through additional coursework and seminars in areas such as Leadership, Team Building, and the methodologies of both Six-Sigma and Lean Manufacturing.
